5. The classics are, of course, all that, but the newer songs don't always hit the mark. All in all, his earlier compilation The Best of Paul Williams is superior, following the same basic template and even some track placements, and most of all, opening with the classic original "Waking Up Alone". And it's all genuine Paul.

6. I like waking up alone, but, by fuckin' golly, the sad "Waking Up Alone" here nearly makes me weep like a pregnant woman watching a Hallmark commercial. I may have the romantic temperament of an aspiring Tiger Woods, but I do have a weakness for pretty melodies. Paul Williams gets through to my obsidian heart here with pure songcraft.
